Attractions
Home to the spectacular Washington Monument and tons of fabulous restaurants, Mt. Vernon boasts some of the best night life— think more cocktails and less vodka red bulls. From Iggie's to the Helmand to Marie Louise, you can be noshing on anything from pizza to Afgan food to upscale French cuisine in a matter of city blocks. Walk a bit off the beaten path to the Mount Vernon Marketplace—an eclectic gathering of all foods imaginable. If being outdoors is more your thing, hang in the four-part park that surrounds the Washington Monument—you might catch a free concert or yoga class there in the spring or summer or just enjoy reading by one of the fountains.
Culture
Mt. Vernon is home to Baltimore's favorite theater, Center Stage, as well as the Walters Art Museum. Center Stage underwent a million-dollar renovation, but still boasts the same Baltimore charm producing both wide known and local plays. The Peabody and Enoch Pratt Libraries can also be found here. Visit the Poe Room in the Enoch Pratt for a small taste of the literary history that the city holds. You'll also be able to find symphony music at the Peabody or jazz at the Eubie Blake.
